My Impact on Higher Education (2012-Present)

1. 95 total scholarly publications (book chapters, co-edited texts, & peer-reviewed articles) with more than 25 different individual co-authors.

   • More than 50 peer-reviewed articles and 35 book chapters co-authored with a range of scholars and practitioner-scholars.

   • 11 co-edited textbooks with 8 different co-editors feature the voices for than more than 125 different individual authors.

2. Co-produced two book series Identity & Practice in Higher Education-Student Affairs (Information Age Publishing) and Culture & Society in Higher Education (Myers Education/Stylus Publishing).

3. Co-authored with more than 30 publications articles with current or past students and including more than 20 journal articles and 6 book chapters, and co-facilitated ore than 10 conference presentations with current or past students.

4. More than 30 publications related to the fraternity/sorority experience, 25 pertaining to student success, 40 related to issues of educational equity in co-curricular spaces, and others related to issues such as faculty.

5. Cited over 300 times across the scholarship and academic discipline of higher education/student affairs.

6. Over 100 conference presentations at regional and national conferences including ASCA, AFA, ASHE, NIRSA, NASPA, NACADA, and ACPA.

7. Developed or advanced four student affairs/higher education graduate programs as program director and increased enrollment by at least 40% at each institution.

8. Assisted in the professional preparation of approximately 275 masters-level higher education/student affairs professionals between 2012-present.

9. Supported in the preparation of more than 50 doctoral students across P-20 education (2017-Present).

10. Achieved more than $1.7 million in grants.

    • Almost $1,000,000 in public service grants from 2016-2021 that created over 60 graduate assistant positions from 7 partnering private and public institutions.

    • $100,000 for a voter engagement grant from the Campus Election Engagement Project and Campus Compact that connected college students with nonpartisan voter choice.

11. Assisted in the hiring of four new higher education/student affairs faculty at two different institutions. Sponsored and mentored one adjunct faculty member into a tenure track position at another institution.

12. Taught over 20 different courses at the masters and doctoral levels. Developed twelve of the courses.

13. Selected for a number of awards and fellowship.

    1. Won the Charles Eberly Oracle Award award from the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) in 2014

    2. Appointed as an Emerging Scholar by the Coalition on Men & Masculinities by ACPA in 2017.

    3. Received the Faculty of the Year Award in 2022 from the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA).

    4. Selected as the inaugural Faculty Research Fellow for the Penn State University Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity & Sorority Research and Reform in 2021.

14. Taught higher education/student affairs for 33 consecutive semesters (fall, spring, summer) from 2012-present.

15. Chaired and supervised more than 25 doctoral dissertations and over 50 masters capstone and theses from 2012-present. My completion rate is more than 90% of the students I supervise and chair.

16. Appeared in the media more than 25 times related to issues of the college experience or student success from (2014-present)

17. Worked in 14 different CAS functional areas (10th ed.) across higher education/student affairs: assessment services, academic advising programs, alcohol & other drug programs, career services, campus activities programs, fraternity and sorority advising programs, health promotion services, housing and residential life programs, orientation programs, masters level student affairs professional preparation programs, student conduct programs, student leadership programs, case management services, and TRIO and college access programs.

18. Supervised approximately 25 student workers, interns, graduate assistants, and professional staff over a more than 15-year professional career.

19. Authorship of one chapter in International Perspectives on Higher Education Admission Policy by V. Stead (2013) that was featured in the Texas v. Fisher Supreme Court affirmative case amicus briefs.

20. More than 100 scholarly conference presentations, 25 invited presentations, and 30 professional presentations.

    • Attended at least three professional conferences per year from 2006-2023 for a total of more than 50 total professional development experiences.

    • In 2021-2022, I attended six conferences for 30 total conference presentations.

21. Worked at six different institutional types: Doctoral/Professional Universities, Doctoral Universities: Very High Research Activity, Music/Performing Arts, Catholic Heritage, Residential Liberal Arts, and Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

22. Served as a reviewer for 10 different journals between 2012-preesent.
