Dr. Pietro Sasso is an Associate Professor of Higher Education at Delaware State University in the Department of Education. Dr. Sasso teachers courses in adult education, higher education leadership, and research methods. He is the recipient of many national awards for professional practice and research.

While originally from the Baltimore, MD-Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, he attended a large, neighborhood urban religious school for primary and junior high school as well as a public magnet high school. His undergraduate and graduate experiences influenced his personal and professional identity. Dr. Sasso identifies as mixed-heritage Latino and engages a bicultural orientation (Torres, 2003) where he was raised within a working class family with an immigrant father.

Dr. Sasso enjoys watching PBS programming and conversely, trashy reality television shows too. He is a self-described “sports masochist” as a hometown Baltimore Orioles, Washington Wizards, and Washington Commanders fan and supports their continual subpar efforts. Having worked in a record store in high school, Dr. Sasso is also an aficionado of contemporary hip-hop music, specifically from the 1990s era. He is also a proud member of Tau Delta Phi Fraternity.

My Scholarly Narrative.

Dr. Sasso has a professional career as an administrator, educator, and researcher which has focused on centering the experiences and amplifying the voices of students. Read his Scholarly Personal Narrative (SPN) which uses a framework by Nash (2019) to author how my own personal experiences foregrounds larger issues of educational equity.
