Two New Book Chapters on Generation Z and “Cloud” Advising

I have recently published two book chapters in International Perspectives on Supporting and Engaging Online Learners edited by Jaimie Hoffman and Patrick Blessinger and published by Emerald Publishing. I am excited to share these two new publications coauthored with my wonderful colleagues Drs. Tyler Phelps (Eastern Illinois University) and Shelley Price-Williams (University of Northern Iowa). In each chapter, we describe new strategies to engage online learners. This is especially salient as higher education has been challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic to consider innovative ways to engage students outside the classroom which is important for students success, development, and learning.

The first chapter is with Dr. Phelps and describes holistic approaches to "cloud advising" online to support student success. Practice implications are framed by my DSDM student development theory. The second chapter is with my frequent collaborator Dr. Price-Williams and describes co-curricular online engagement with Generation-Z students. It further highlights how we connect students to such intentional opportunities.
