Presentations at #ACPA 21 Virtual Experience
I am excited to be present two sessions at the ACPA 21 Virtual Experience. I will also have a poster session with my colleague Dr. Ashleigh Goedereis which distills the results from our recent JCAPS article on student involvement in first-generation, Generation-Z college students. The presentations are entitled “The Digital Yard: Social Media Use Among Black Greek Letter Organizations at PWIs” which is a qualitative study of how Black undergraduate students leaders navigate social media. The results appear in this study as a forthcoming article in the Journal of Negro Education. This first presentation is with a former student (Charles Martin III) and a faculty SIUE colleague (Dr. J.T. Snipes). The second presentation is an expansion of my critical model of student success, the Dynamic Student Development Metatheodel (DSDM) in which I explore proactive advising for student communities of color and other first-generation college students. This will be with my colleague, Dr. Shelley Price-Williams of Northern Iowa. I am excited to facilitate these sessions and share my research in more ways that are accessible as I continue to provide voice to the student experience as a critical researcher.
